BREAKING: Summer Dean to Play the Opry
The Blue Jean Country Queen to Step into the Circle on December 6
Summer Dean, the 2023 Texas Country Music Awards Female Artist of the Year and 2023 Ameripolitan Awards Honky Tonk Female of the Year, announced on a Country Cutler Conversations that she will be stepping into the circle and will debut on the Grand Ole Opry on December 6.
Dean, who has been on an extended West Coast tour, took the time to speak with me about the importance of California to honky tonk music, the difficulty of managing an independent national touring schedule and much more, dropping this Grand Ole news at the 10:30 second mark of the interview.
I didn’t even try to keep my cool or “journalistic integrity.” This was worth celebrating in real-time.
There is plenty of time for criticism and hot takes — but there are so few times when you can genuinely be happy for someone. I was shocked she shared that news with us and was excited to celebrate Dean’s success and recognition by the Orpy.
Dean has been working the circuit for years, making incredible music, putting on exciting shows and having fun without lying about the costs to herself and her bandmates. I’m thrilled the Opry has invited her to take the stage.
Summer Dean is playing Costa Mesa tonight, Hollywood tomorrow, Pioneer Town on Saturday and Phoenix next week. She will be in Texas for September, on the East Coast this Fall and in Nashville this December.
Congratulations, Summer! I’m thrilled for you and the future of country music.
